Tired

There is a difference between tired and exhausted.
Today, I am exhausted.

We just had a stage production a few hours ago, and all I did was watch. That was it, then I got exhausted.

Weird. Maybe it's just the fact that I still have to read gazillions of pages of texts.

Someone kill me.

Cracked.

I was browsing my Mibba account when I stumbled upon a story I wrote as a requirement for my creative writing class. I remember the professor telling us to write a one page-story wherein the character is panicking. So I thought to myself, "I would surely panic if buried alive", thus I came up with Cracked.

This unfortunate man tried hard to focus on his next action. Screaming at the top of his lungs didn’t work; he imagined the sound of his voice traveling through the lid and getting stuck in the fetidity of dirt and manure a few inches above him. He tried to control his breathing, but the humid air seemed to depreciate every second. He raised his head, hit the lid, and his feet thrashed about, kicking the mahogany. He raised his hand and touched the wood above him; its fragility became apparent as it creaked, sending stabs through his pounding heart. Apart from his heavy breathing, the creak was the only sound he had heard for the past few minutes after he had woken up. Then he thought he heard voices beside him, and immediately knew these were voices of his neighbors, those people unfortunate enough to face the sorry state of Death. But I am not yet dead, he thought. I’m not supposed to be here!

Let me out! He screamed as he repeatedly banged on the wood. The creaks turned into loud thuds. He heard the voices coming closer. They were beckoning him to come with them! He banged harder, ignoring the wetness of his palms. Soon, he couldn’t see a thing as tears filled his eyes. Let me out! I’m still alive! He continued to scream while banging and scratching the wooden surface that seemed to be his doorway to death. He was getting weaker every second, but the voices were closer than ever. And shortly the coffin was filled with his garbled cries for help. His entire body thrashed around the tightness of his confinement, hitting every surface of wood it could hit, and then it happened. Another piercing silence ensued, followed by the creaking of the wood above, louder than ever. He was still sobbing as he watched the wood crack open. And with the loudest scream he could muster, he watched as the earth’s soil fell down upon him, swallowing him in darkness.

This is why I'm getting cremated.

been a long time since I last posted...

see the title of this post... I decided to return to my previous LJ theme, Casino Royale... so there.

EL BIMBUHAN SA MCDO

Sorry, but I just have to post this one. First watched this online, not on tv... and I was immediately blown away by its sincerity. This is what commercials should be like!!!!!

Ignore my sentimentality.

harhar!

I AM A LITERATURE MAJOR!

Just had the time of my life a few hours ago. The Literature Department had organized this event wherein some of the country's greatest poets, Gemino Abad, Marjorie Evasco, Alfred Yuson, Marne Kilates, and Edgar Maranan, read some of their poems in celebration of the publishing of Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia and Beyond.

We were all pretty excited during the picture taking sessions...

I was inches/meters away from them. *ehem.

Me with Maria, Gayna, and Kim.

After the event. The obligatory "jump" shot.

Don't ask me. I don't know what I was doin' here.

So, there you have it.

Jealous of me?
It sucks to be you. lol.

Don't care? (because you have no idea who these great poets are)
it also sucks to be you.

Harhar. Out!

The Life of a Slumdog

I have a confession to make and I hope I would not get in jail for this. I just finished watching the award-winning Slumdog Millionaire in an illegal website. It's just that I was so curious about this film, not only because of the Best Picture awards under its belt (Satellite award, Golden Globe award, Critics Choice award), but also because of its premise:

Slumdog Millionaire is about Jamal, a boy from the slums of Mumbai who immediately rose to fame after reaching the second-to-the-last question of India's version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The media, the police, and even the show's host doubted his accomplishment and suspected that he was cheating. Jamal, however, has the story of his life to tell, and with it, he could not only prove to everyone how he knew the answers to the questions, but also continue with the million-rupee question and become a millionaire from the slums.

So far, I know I had just seen one of the best films this year, yet I still do not have the right to predict whether or not this will win the Oscar for Best Picture (I've got to watch the other movies first), but here's hoping it would.

I'll write a review once the movie comes to our malls.

Holy, I changed my theme!

Nowadays, it's hard to find a theme suitable for a guy. I was surfing the net for an hour, looking for another theme for this LJ. I found a dozen that suit my taste. They are tight-looking, they have nice color combinations, and they are well-organized and not too confusing. The problem is that they all have at least one design that makes the themes shout, "A girl made me!" or "I'm for girls only!". Some have cute little butterflies on the top right corner, some have pink hearts on their headers, while some have these slogans, one of which is "Love me and I will never let go." in bright pink letters.

Thanks to grrliz.livejournal.com/, I found this Casino Royale theme, and I was immediately attracted to it.

I don't play cards, by the way.

Funny Thai Commercials

Darn Thais. These are three very funny commercials of the same product.
Watch it and see.

In a span of thirty minutes...

During the first thirty minutes of my utterly meager existence in this void you call Livejournal, I had only done quite a few things:

1. checked (and quickly closed) a couple of LJ's..
2. Joined a community for fiction writers.
3. Joined a community of readers.
4. Changed my site name.
5. Explored the nooks and crannies that every noob (arrg! the n word!) must know in order to survive LJ.
6. Typed this dang entry.

Hmmm.. Allow me to explore further.

Jan. 18th, 2009

I have a Livejournal. Oh, fuck!

Normally, I would want my first post to have a really catchy title like, say, "I killed my best friend last night" or "Enlarge your whatever for only five bucks", but since I'm feeling creative today, I just decided to stick to profanities.

So, my first ever LJ.

As you can see I decided to stick with the Stevenson Theme for my journal. Why? Because:

   a. I've always wanted my blogs to look as clean as possible.

   b. I like everything to look tight.
   c. I've always wanted to be named Steven or Stephen or Stevenson... or Guillermo.
   d. All of the above.
   e. None of the above and why-the-hell-are-you-still-reading-this-gudamn-post-anyway.

Wow. So many things to say yet so little time to type. I'll try to continue, though, and hopefully school won't be a hindrance to my blogging, which, we all know, is far more important.

*nervous chuckle
